Edison versus Westinghouse

We all primarily use AC power today because of a hard fought war between Thomas Edison and  George Westinghouse.

You convert AC to DC all the time. When you charge your phone or computer. You can actually run an entire home on DC, I did it while traveling in my Sunline Solaris travel trailer in the early 2000s.

It’s ironic that my fave new DC-based home power storage system (and my next car) is named after Nicola Tesla, who’s patents were sold to Westinghouse, helping to spark the industrial age with the mass distribution of AC power. The trend of heavy reliance on national grid power may begin to reverse as home power storage becomes affordable.
